Online Student Orientation: A step-by-step walkthrough for new distance Aggies.

Office of Graduate Studies:The OGS is the definitive source for information on all graduate degree programs— both distance and traditional.

Distance Library Services: The Texas A&M Libraries offer special services for distance students including a customized website, electronic reserves, and more.

University Writing Center: The University Writing Center (UWC) can help students with any stage of the writing process (coming up with a topic, brainstorming, writing a rough draft, revising, grammar, content, organization) or any type of assignment or project (technical writing, essays, bibliographies, proposals, graduate school applications, résumés).

Career Center: The Career Center is committed to serving all students at Texas A&M, regardless of whether or not they can come to the Career Center. We have the following resources available that you may find useful. If there are any resources that we can add or improve to better serve our distance education students, please contact us. You are also welcome to come to the Career Center any time you are on campus.

Disability Services: Disability Services (DS) provides services to students with disabilities to insure accessibility to university programs. DS offers accommodations counseling, evaluation referral, disability-related information, adaptive technology counseling and equipment, and interpreter services for academically related purposes.

Aggie ID Cards: Your official Texas A&M University student identification card will be sent by the end of your first semester as a distance education student. Please note carefully that this distance education student ID card is valid only with an additional form of photo ID. If you are ever on campus, you may stop by the Aggie Card Office, in The General Services Complex, Room 2801 and have this card replaced with a picture ID at no cost. However, you must present a photo ID to The Aggie Card Office at that time. Graduate Student Council (GSC): The mission of the Graduate Student Council (GSC) is to work in cooperation with the Texas A&M University administration, faculty, and the Student Government Association to insure that the needs of graduate students are understood and considered when campus policies concerning academic excellence, tuition and finance, and research are made.

The GSC, serving as the graduate student government at Texas A&M University, exists to share and discuss information important to all Texas A&M University graduate and professional students and to advocate for their interests in dealing with the University, its constituents, and all other appropriate entities.

The Aggie Network: The Aggie Network is the Association of Former Students. For more information visit their website at http://www.aggienetwork.com/.

 The Division of Student Affairs provides several high quality services and developmental opportunities for students (explained below). • Howdy: The Division of Student Affairs has created a student web portal packed with links to all the important spots around campus. You'll definitely want to bookmark this site!

• Student Financial Aid: This office communicates with students at a distance through telephone, on-line advice using e-mail, and by providing forms and information through its web pages. Video technology—both desktop video conferencing and prerecorded tape— have been used to provide scholarship and awards counseling and to assist in answering questions. Further, grant and scholarship information is accessible by computer. Students (both distance and traditional) may access on-line financial aid applications such as the "Loans by Web®" system, on-line entrance counseling, and more. The site also posts important news and notices such as deadlines, workshops, and regulation changes.

• Student Counseling Services: This group addresses distant student services by providing psychoeducational information on its www.scs.tamu.edu Internet site. This web site includes information about student counseling services along with personal, academic (study skills), and career counseling self-help information. Included in these self-help resources are the printed transcripts (http://www.scs.tamu.edu/selfhelp/elibrary/infosheets.asp) for the CounseLine telephone call-in service (979-845-2700).

• Student Activities: The Virtual Volunteer Service Center at http://vvsc.tamu.edu. The on-line student-run newspaper, the Battalion, offers a daily update of major Texas A&M news stories.

• Memorial Student Center (MSC): The student center website provides up-to-date information on programs and services, while the box office offers a toll-free telephone number for ticket ordering. Students can also order diploma framing and graduation announcements on-line. One of its student groups, Political Forum, hosts a chat line through which students can e-mail comments and respond to topics posted for discussion.

College of Education and Human Development Student Support Services: The College of Education offers it's own distance education student website with information such as how to apply to the college as a graduate student, useful contacts and phone numbers within the college, registration and payment info, and library services, and more.

On-line Bookstore: Using Texas A&M's online bookstore, distance students can order their textbooks and have them shipped right to their door.
