Faculty & Staff Support

This site has been prepared to assist Texas A&M faculty, staff, and administration interested in learning about the developement of courses and programs offered for delivery by distance with technology-mediated instruction.

Because technology-mediated instruction/distance learning changes so rapidly, from time-to-time, we will update these sections.  If you have recommended updates, please contact Jan Richards j-richard@tamu.edu.  We will show an update on the sections and announce the updates to the University distance education coordinators.

To help you understand how distance education operates at Texas A&M, we have developed three main sections and an appendix, which contains example program proposals:

  • Support Structures for Distance Learning at Texas A&M:

Learning about the Office of Distance Education

Recruiting and marketing tips

Available technology and training

  • Developing Distance Learning Courses and Programs:

Submitting a Program for Distance Delivery

Statement of Commitment to Standards for Distance Education and Off-Campus Instruction at Texas A&M University

  • Distance Learning Regulations

At Texas A&M, distance learning operates according to the procedures outlined by The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) Rules http://www.thecb.state.tx.us, policies defined by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), and policies defined by the Southern Region Education Board (SREB).  We include important THECB rules for distance learning, along with SACS and SREB documents describing distance learning policies and good practices.  Faculty will be interested in knowing the requirements for distance learning as outlined by these agencies.

For further information, always contact the Office of Distance Education, located in Suite 101, Donald Houston Center, 979-845-4282.
