With this preparation, graduates can offer effective leadership in the management of nonprofit organizations.

Certificate Program Summary

Students who complete the certificate will gain an understanding of the nonprofit sector, nonprofit organizational structures (i.e., legal frameworks and governance issues) and management practices appropriate to the sector (i.e., strategy, volunteer behavior, and fund raising). With this preparation students will be able to offer effective leadership in the management of nonprofit organizations. Students complete 12 credit hours of graduate level coursework. Individuals who successfully complete the program will be awarded a certificate and it will appear on their university transcript.

Target Audience

The Bush School welcomes working professionals and students who need flexibility in order to extend their education. Offering the online certificates in Nonprofit Management we appreciate the varied backgrounds and depth of experience that professionals in all disciplines as well as the military bring to our online programs. Designed completely for online (Web-based) delivery, with no residency requirements, our online courses are within reach from any computer, any time during a semester.

Program Description

Beginning Fall 2008 - The CNPM will be offered in the eLearning format. Students will be able to obtain the NPM Certificate by attending classes online and/or on-ground. This “blended” option will provide all potential CNPM students the flexibility to further their education at a time and place that best fits their needs. Students may choose to take courses completely online, all in-residence or a combination of both – and continue to receive the same full line of “student-centered” services offered by the Office of Extended Education. The George Bush School of Government and Public Service requires that its online students receive the same rigorous, high caliber education as our resident students. As part of Texas A&M University, these online programs are fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and are approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. Credits earned via these online courses are equal in every way to those graduate credits earned on campus.

Admission Requirements & Costs

To begin the application process online, visit the Application page.

Cost per course will vary, depending on whether you are a Texas resident, active duty military, or reside out-of-state. Costs can also fluctuate slightly each year, based on tuition and fee adjustments. Overall, the Bush School's distance education courses are less expensive than attending an on-campus class, which requires drive time and gas, time away from your family, and/or time missed from work.

For more information on costs per course for both in-state and out-of-state students, please see the Bush School's distance education program pages.

Financial Aid

The Bush School certificate programs are eligible for federal financial aid. To begin the process, please fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

We recommend that you complete to financial aid application concurrently as you apply to our programs. The Texas A&M University Department of Student Financial Aid will contact you regarding you status once your application has been processed by the US Department of Education. Please note that, for the purposes of federal financial aid awards, "part time" is defined as taking two courses (6 credit hours) during the semester that the aid is received. This requirement is set at the federal level not the university level, so it can not be waived.
