Admissions
Enrollment Options: Guest Student (G6) or Graduate Student (G7)
Any student who wishes to enroll in distance education courses at TAMU must be admitted to the university either as a graduate student (G7) or as a post-baccalaureate, non-degree seeking student (G6). Guest students--those who just wish to take a few classes and transfer them to another institution--must use the G6 category. Before you apply, be sure you have discussed your background with a professor or academic advisor in the department or program to which you are applying. For students applying to the Online Master of Industrial Distribution Program, contact the MID Program directly for specific application instructions.
We encourage students who are new to distance learning, even those who intend on enrolling in an A&M graduate program, to apply under the G6 classification. The G6 application is shorter and generally processed faster, allowing you to be enrolled sooner. After your first semester, you can apply as a fully admitted graduate student (G7) and apply your class credit toward your degree. HOWEVER, if a departmental academic advisor instructs you to apply immediately as a G7 student then by all means do so.
