Texas A&M University defines distance education courses as a course in which the majority of the instruction (interaction between students and instructors and among students) occurs when students and instructors are not in the same physical setting.

Students who are not enrolled in an approved distance education program cannot take more than 50% of their required courses online. Consult with your academic advisor for more information.

Searching for DE Courses

To view distance education courses, use the Class Search resource.

  1. Select or type the applicable term.
  2. Hover over the maroon “Sect” heading and click on the “menu” icon displayed as three parallel horizontal lines.
  3. Click on the secondary “menu” displayed as four parallel vertical lines.
  4. Select “Type” to add the additional column to your search. The “Type” column will appear next to the “Sect” column.
  5. Hover over the maroon “Type” heading and click on the “menu” icon.
  6. Click on the “filter” icon to show “Web Based” courses.

All available classes will appear. Courses are subject to change each semester. You may narrow your search further by using the filter on other columns.
